"Ready to Run" Sculpture

"Ready to Run" Sculpture
After much anticipation and preparation, the 1st piece of public art made it's way to Okeechobee in 2015.  The abstract horse sculpture, titled "Ready to Run," is from the skilled hands of Blacksmith sculptor W.R. Nager of Lakeland, FL.

The sculpture is approximately 10' tall and weighs about 2900 pounds with the base.  This piece graced the entrance to the Historic County Courthouse located at 304 NW 2nd St. for two years.

On loan for the two years from the artist, Okeechobee Main Street purchased the sculpture in 2017 and the abstract installation is now located at the Okeechobee County Public Library located at 206 SW 16th Street.

Thank you to the BOCC for their support and approval for bringing the art work here and giving it a place to stay.

Okeechobee Main Street's Arts & Culture Committee is now in the process of making a mosaic covering for the concrete base which the sculpture is sitting on. The completion of the base is expected to by done by Summer, 2018.
