Born in Mt. Holly, New Jersey in 1956 and growing up in the southern New Jersey pinelands, Kathie Papasso developed a love of nature and wildlife. Moving to South Florida in the mid 80’s, her love of nature shifted from the Jersey Pines to the Florida Everglades. Now living in Okeechobee, Florida for the past 14 years, her love of nature has now grown to include local cattle and Florida wildlife.

 

Today her art reflects her lifelong love of nature while deftly capturing the minute details only nature has to offer while celebrating the lifestyle that is uniquely Okeechobee.

With numerous successful shows confirmed with over 35 ribbons ranging from mostly First Place and People’s Choice Awards to a few Honorable Mentions, Kathie is a seasoned professional artist. She has shown in prominent galleries such as the A. E. Bacus Gallery in Ft. Pierce.

Her work also hangs in respected locations such as the Florida State Law Library and locally in Okeechobee at Brown Cow Sweetery and Park Street Gallery. Her  work has been recognized and sold all around the world from Spain to New Zealand, England and Canada, as well as numerous states throughout the United States.

Kathie’s Artistic Journey began at a very early age starting with ceramics and fabric painting as well as many other arts and crafts that required painting. As a self-taught artist who first began painting on canvas after her children grew up, she quickly developed a keen eye for fine detail, creating photo realism in acrylic. It is almost impossible to distinguish her artwork as a painting from a photograph. The fine detail Kathie incorporates into her artwork is her hidden signature enabling her to put that special touch into all of her work, especially musical instruments and animal paintings, focusing mainly on Florida Fauna and Cattle.
